Electrical cabinet maintenance-Bunny
Summer is here and it shows! We have caloret, we are thirsty … we need to refresh ourselves. It’s normal … we are human.
What we suffer, machines also suffer. All electronic elements have working temperatures. Some of them are prepared to withstand high temperatures (even up to <70 ° C, such as milling motors) but other electronic components cannot withstand such high temperatures, in fact, if they exceed the operating temperature range they produce errors.
In the electrical cabinets that feed your systems, you will find fans, vents, filters … yes, yes … I know that many of you are now asking yourself: “Does that closet have that?” Well – it does maintenance!
It is clear that in these cabinets the temperature is much higher than in the medium in which they are: inverters, controls, drivers, capacitors, resistors, line filters … all this generates an impressive amount of heat, that is why it they install vents and air is forced into the entrance or exit, to recirculate that air out of the closet. So, can you imagine the temperature that can be reached in there? 50-60 degrees …? Yes, there it goes.
Unfortunately, as a technician I know that many of you do not stop paying attention to these elements, perhaps you have not even opened the electrical cabinet in … years? Well … THE MOMENT CAME!
maintenance: Find the chakra
Obviously that closet is around the cutting table from which all kinds of chips and debris, dust, etc … come off and ends up inside the closet. Surely you will find it full of dust, with dirty filters that cover all the ventilation … That must be cleaned!
Before you start: disconnect the cabinet from the power!
maintenance: Inspire …
Take a vacuum cleaner and vacuum all the dust and debris you can. Take care not to bring the vacuum tube closer to the most exposed electronic components (if any) since the vacuum accumulates a lot of static electricity.
maintenance: It expires …
Once you have the closet more or less clean, take the air gun. Make sure the air is clean, free of moisture, or oily … it must be dry air! Blow the components well and you will see that a LOT of dust still comes out.
The drivers, the electronic boards … everything must be well blown. Pay attention again to the electronic components, do not blow them with all the pressure the gun has, blow them away. In the controls of the servos and the inverters of frequency it blows well all the grilles and the fans that they can have (do not forget that they also have a bottom!), Much residue happens to live in there and when the components are heated they have no possibility of ventilation
External fans and filters should not forgotten … blow there too! In some cases you can even disassemble the filter cover and wash them or in extreme cases replace them with new ones.
maintenance: Relax
You have finished your homework, cleaned the closet, connected the machine again and you can breathe easy and your machine too!
You have just lowered the temperature of the electrical cabinet by 10 or 20%, it is as if you are going to have a drink on your favorite terrace after a refreshing bath…
…did you know?
Did you know that in electronics there are components that prepare to withstand extreme temperatures and others that have a more limited range of service? Some are of “military use” and others of “civil use”. You know something else … and free!
Now … to the pool!
