L'oxyg\u00e8ne convient \u00e0 la d\u00e9coupe de l'acier au carbone \u00e0 moindre co\u00fbt ; l'oxyg\u00e8ne \u00e0 99,5 % de puret\u00e9 co\u00fbte environ 0,8\u20131,5 RMB\/m\u00b3, avec un co\u00fbt au m\u00e8tre d'environ 0,05\u20130,15 RMB. L'air comprim\u00e9 a le co\u00fbt le plus bas et convient \u00e0 la d\u00e9coupe de t\u00f4les minces, mais n\u00e9cessite un syst\u00e8me de purification de haute pr\u00e9cision. Prenant l'exemple d'un mod\u00e8le \u00e0 fibre de 3 kW, les donn\u00e9es de Bystronic montrent un co\u00fbt d'exploitation horaire d'environ 16,5 francs suisses, dont 2,5 francs pour l'\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 et 3,4 francs pour le gaz.
