    Today the most advanced welding technology in the world is laser welding. The laser welding machine uses high-energy laser pulses to locally heat the material in a small area. It is a new type of welding method, mainly for the welding of thin-walled materials and precision parts.     1. Die steel

    The laser welding machine can be used to weld S136, SKD-11, NAK80, 8407, 718, 738, H13, P20, W302, 2344 and other types of die steel, and the welding effect is better.

    2. Carbon steel

    The laser welding machine welds carbon steel with good results. The welding quality depends on the content of impurities. In order to obtain good welding quality, the carbon content exceeds 0.25% requires to preheat. As the carbon content increases, the sensitivity of weld cracks and notches will increase.

    3. Alloy steel

    For laser welding of low-alloy high-strength steel, as long as the selected welding parameters are appropriate, a joint with mechanical properties equivalent to the base metal can be obtained.

    4. Stainless steel

    Because the welding speed and heat-affected zone of the laser welding machine are small, the overheating phenomenon and the large linear expansion coefficient of the stainless steel welding are alleviated, and the welding seam has no defects such as pores and inclusions. Compared with carbon steel, stainless steel is easier to obtain deep penetration narrow welds due to its low thermal conductivity, high energy absorption rate and melting efficiency. Welding thin plates with a low-power laser welding machine can obtain a well-formed joint with a smooth and beautiful weld seam.

    5. Copper and copper alloy

    Welding copper and copper alloys is prone to problems of infusion and incomplete penetration. Therefore,  For preheating measuresa we should use heat source with concentrated energy and high power; When the thickness of the workpiece is thin or the structural rigidity is small, and there are no measures to prevent deformation, it is easy to produce large deformation after welding, and when the welding joint is subject to large rigid constraints, welding stress is likely to occur; It is also prone to thermal cracks when welding copper and copper alloys; Porosity is a common defect in copper and copper alloy welding.

    6. Aluminum and aluminum alloy

    Aluminum and aluminum alloys are highly reflective materials. When welding aluminum and its alloys, as the temperature increases, the solubility of hydrogen in aluminum increases sharply.And the dissolved hydrogen becomes a source of defects in the weld. And there are many pores in the weld. There may be a cavity in the root during deep penetration welding. Then the weld bead formation is poor.

    This article is about preparation before using the welding machine.

    Recently,we received many orders about handheld fiber laser welding machine.And some clients have received their laser welding machines now.But some clients never use this kind of machine before.So today we will tell you the preparation before using the welding machine.

    Firstly,you need to prepare the Auxiliary gas,water and electricity.

    1.Auxiliary gas
    We suggest you use the auxiliary gas to weld.Nitrogen and argon are all ok.It can protect the lens so the lens lifetime will be
    longer. The price of the gas is different in different counties and regions. If you think the cost
    of the gas is too high, you can use air compressor to produce air gas. But the welding effect
    will not very good, the welding surface of the metal may be black, so our customers should
    wipe the surface of the metal with ethyl alcohol.Nitrogen or argon all is ok.

    2.Water
    You need to prepare 18L pure water or distilled water.We will drain the water in the water chiller before shipment
    to prevent the water inside form becoming moldy and deteriorated during transportation.So you need to put in the
    water when you receive it.And it will be better to change the water once a week.

    3.Electricity
    1000w welding machine need 220V,single phase.So you need to prepare the air switch in advance.

    Today we want to introduce some questions about handheld fiber laser welding machine.We received them form many different clients.So we want to share them with you.

     

    1 )Firstly, What is the difference between Rayson, MAX and IPG Laser source?

    Do you mean Raycus,MAX and IPG? RFL and RPT seems like the tha laser source model number.
    If you mean Raycus, MAX and IPG,they have no big difference on welding effect,just different laser source brand.We will recommend
    our clients choose IPG laser source when they choose ≥4000w laser source(fiber laser cutting machine) because it is more suitable.For
    welding machine,Raycus is enough.

    2) Secondly, There are many different types and models of Raycus Laser source in the offers. Please give us more detailed information about
    Raycus Laser source. Which models are better?

    We use RFL-C1500H for our 1500w fiber laser welding machine.We also confirm with Raycus engineer.H series is specially used for
    fiber laser welding machine.Some suppliers use X series(RFL-C1500X),it is mainly for fiber laser cutting machine.We don’t know
    other Raycus models.If you have other questions,pls let me know.

    3)Thirdly, The laser head in your offer is Shenzhen brand. There are 3 different laser heads (Hanwei, Qilin, Xinghong), and 3
    different wire feeders (Xinghong,Qilin and Hanwei) in your offer.. If we buy machine with wire feeder, is the wire feeder suitable for
    all 4 type ? What are the advantages and disadvantages of these 3 different brand.? Standard diameter of wire are 08, / 1,8 / 2,0 mm.
    What is the advantage of having a 0.2-5 mm adjustable Qilin ? According to us, the Xinghong head looks suitable for a thinner and
    smoother welding. What is your opinion about this?

    *About the wire feeder
    Our standard confirgurations is Hanwei welding gun,so we marked manufacturered by Shenzhen(Qilin is also in Shenzhen,Xinghong is in Wuhan).
    The welding gun,control board/systerm and wire feeder are used together with one same brand.For example,if you choose Hanwei welding
    gun,the control board and wire feeder are Hanwei brand.And they can be used for Hanwei welding gun.

    *About the welding gun
    90% of our clients choose Hanwei welding gun.And some of them choose Qilin(Qilin need add to extra 500USD).The advantage of Qilian is that
    its spot size is ajustable and its has six welding mode.So it is suitable for more jobs.The configurations of Hanwei and Xinghong are similar,but
    Xinghong need add 400USD so we recmommend you choose Hanwei.

But the welding effect will not very good, the welding surface of the metal may be black, so our customers should wipe the surface of the metal with ethyl alcohol.

    1. Power comsumption

    In fact, we usually use 50%-60% power to weld the metals.
    1kw total power consumption is 7.5kw. The real power consumption is only 3.8-4.5kw/h.
    1.5kw total power consumption is 8.5kw. The real power consumption is only 4.3-5.1kw/h.
    2kw total power consumption is 10kw. The real power consumption is only 5-6kw/h.

    Quick wear parts for handheld fiber laser welder are only protective lens and copper nozzle.
    Protective lens: lifetime is 240 hours, about 40-50pcs per year
    Copper nozzle: lifetime is 360 hours, about 20-25pcs per year

    3. Auxiliary gas

    The gas mainly plays a protection role, its consumption is very small. Nitrogen (N2) or Argon both are OK. But for materials easy to be oxidized, Argon is better. The gas also can protect the lens from welding dust.

    Fiber laser welding uses a high energy density laser beam as a heat source for efficient precision welding. However, laser welding requires high precision for workpiece pre-machining. So the position of the beam on the workpiece cannot not deviate significantly. If the assembly accuracy or beam positioning accuracy of the workpiece does not meet the requirements, it is easy to cause welding defects. This limits the process capability of laser welding to a certain extent. Because the spot size is small and the weld is narrow after laser focusing.
    In response to the limitations of the above laser welding technology, the market has gradually introduced a laser welding method with double wedge laser vibration.  There’s a special wobble vibration module on the welding head. The application of wobble welding technology can make laser welding more widely used. And it can achieve high-efficiency laser precision welding for larger or wider welds workpieces.

    Laser Welding Technology

    In conventional laser vibration welding, the collimated beam is vibrated by a uniaxial galvanometer. And the spot focused by the focusing mirror is moved with the welding head to move relative to the workpiece. Thus forms a weld having a certain amplitude, frequency and offset.
    Compared to the first two vibration welding modes, the double wedge mirror rotational vibration welding produces a spiral weld seam by the vibration module mounted between the collimating mirror and the focusing mirror, so that the focusing spot moves while the welding head moves. When the focal length is the same, the larger the torsion angle, the larger the vibration amplitude. When the torsion angle is the same, the larger the focal length, the larger the vibration amplitude. Therefore, double wedge vibration welding allows the weld joint to be wider while achieving better weld formability.
