It is believed that anyone who has been in contact with a laser cutting machine will know that the positional control of the focus of the laser cutting device at work is critical. Focus control refers to the laser cutting machine in cutting different materials and different thickness of the plate.  In the early days of laser cutting applications, manual focusing  is the main way. With the development of laser technology, people eliminate this manual focusing method. And people began to realize the better auto-focusing function slowly.

The bottom of the laser cutting head is a nozzle. During the cutting process, the nozzle height is constant, so people can not adjust the focus by lifting the cutting head. The focal length of the focusing mirror is immutable, so it’s impossible to focus by changing the focal length. If changing the position of the focusing mirror,it can change the focus position. When lowering the focusing mirror, it can lower the focus. And when raising the focusing mirror, it can raise the focus, which is a way of focusing. Automatic focusing works by using a motor-driven focusing mirror for up and own motion.

Another method of autofocusing is to place a variable curvature mirror before the beam enters the focusing mirror. By changing the curvature of the mirror, changing the divergence angle of the reflected beam is possible to change the focus position.

With the auto-focus function, the machine can automatically adjust the focus to the appropriate position when machining workpieces of different materials and thicknesses, which can significantly improve the processing efficiency of the laser cutting machine, and this can reduce the slab perforation time greatly. Therefore, for the laser cutting machine, the auto focus function is an important and indispensable function.
