1.The parameters affect the cutting effect include:

cutting height, nozzle model, focus point position, cutting power, cutting frequency, cutting duty ratio, cutting pressure and cutting speed. Hardware conditions include: protective lens, gas purity, sheet quality, focus lens and collimation lens.

2.When cutting effect is not good, first we should do the general inspection, the main inspection contents and order of the general inspection are: 

Cutting height.

We recommend the actual cutting height be between 0.8 and 1.2 mm. If the actual cutting height is not accurate, you should calibrate it.

Nozzle.

Check if the nozzle model and size are wrong. If it is correct, check if the nozzle is not good and the roundness is normal.

Light Center.

We recommend to use a nozzle with a diameter of 1.0 for optical center inspection. When checking the optical center, the focus point is better between -1 and 1. So the light spot produced is small and easy to observe.

Protective lens.

Check the protective lens whether is clean. The requirement are no oil and no slag. Sometimes the lens is fogged because of the weather or the air is too cold.

Focus point check.

Check if the focus point is set correctly.

Modify the cutting parameters.

After checked the above five items  and there are no problems, modify the parameters according to the phenomenon.

3.Then how to modify the cutting parameters? Below briefly introduce few states will have and solutions when cutting stainless steel and carbon steel 

When meet stainless steel slag, their are many type slags:

only the corner slag, you should lower the focus point and increase the pressure from the parameter.

hard slag on whole material, you need to lower the focus point, increase the air pressure, and change to bigger nozzle, but the focus is too low or the air pressure is too large, also will lead to stratification and rough surface.

granular soft residue on whole material, you can appropriately increase the cutting speed or the cutting power.

slag on lower surface of the sheet, you can check whether the gas supply still enough and the flow still strong.

When cutting carbon steel, the problem may have thin plate cutting edge not smooth, thick plate cutting edge rough.

Generally, no more than 4 milometer carbon steel edge can be smooth with 1000 watt laser, 2000 watt is 6 milometer, 3000 watt is 8 milometer.

Want the cutting edge smooth, the surface of the plate  should be rust-free, lacquer-free and non-oxidized. Then the oxygen purity should be higher than at least 99.5%. When cutting, you should pay attention to: use double layer small nozzle 1.0 or 1.2, cutting speed should be more than 2 meters/min, and the cutting pressure should not be too large.

If you want good quality thick plate cutting edge, you must first ensure the purity of the plate and gas. Secondly you should pay attention to the nozzle selecting. The larger the hole diameter, the better the quality of the edge, but the taper of the edge will be larger.
